Coconut Connection

Sean Villanueva O'Driscoll returns to Baffin Island in July with Nico Favresse, this time without a boat and with free climbing as the explicit goal. They are joined by the Italian alpinists Matteo Della Bordella, Matteo De Zaiacomo and Luca Schiera. The team skis in across broken sea ice and ends up voluntarily stranded for nearly two months in a valley full of rock. Villanueva O'Driscoll directed it, and the two-month timescale changes what the film is. An ambitious climbing trip turns into something closer to a record of living somewhere: friendship, music, weather, and a lot of waiting at the edge of the Arctic.
