Climbing in Ha Long Bay

Ha Long Bay’s trademark limestone karsts form the setting for a compact study of deep‑water solo technique and coaching in the short film Vietnam’s HARDEST Deep Water Solos | ft. Kyra Condie & Tim Emmett. The piece follows Kyra Condie and Tim Emmett on psicobloc lines among the bay’s towers, using close shots of sequence work and wider drone frames to show landing zones and exposure across the water. The film notes the region’s thousands of karst formations and places the climbing in the wider landscape that earned Ha Long Bay UNESCO World Heritage status.

The film’s central sequence follows Condie working a route shown in the edit as the “Lightning Crack,” with grade information taken from the clip’s metadata, and it foregrounds a teacher–student exchange: Emmett—whose career includes pioneering psychobloc in Vietnam—coaches Condie, who comes from competition and bouldering backgrounds.
