Fight Club V14

Fight Club is an 8B+ (V14) boulder problem in Val Bavona, in Ticino, Switzerland, in the same cluster of hard granite lines as nearby Chironico. Jimmy Webb spotted the boulder in 2019, and it sat unclimbed for a few years before its quality and difficulty were confirmed.

History

Shawn Raboutou made the first ascent in 2022, during a trip to Ticino that also produced his first ascent of Alphane nearby. Fight Club has since drawn a steady trickle of repeats from visiting boulderers, including Kim Marschner, Keenan Takahashi, Arthur Le Bris, Yuta Imaizumi, Yuta Kaneki and Sungsu Lee between 2023 and 2026, keeping it in circulation as one of the valley's benchmark V14s even as attention in the area has shifted to harder, newer lines like Alphane.

On film

The North Face presents: ALPHANE, a 2022 Mellow film, follows a group of climbers including Shawn Raboutou, Matty Hong, Jimmy Webb, Daniel Woods, Felipe Camargo and Giuliano Cameroni on a Swiss bouldering trip centered on Raboutou's work on Alphane. Fight Club appears among the group's other problems from that same trip, part of the record of sessions and repeats the film documents.
