Rhapsody at Dumbarton Rock is a landmark traditional route completed by Dave MacLeod in 2006 and widely described at the time as the hardest trad climb in the world. It combines sustained, French 8c+ level difficulty with very marginal protection—small wires and gear that sit far below the crux—so a fall could have severe consequences. The route is often discussed for how it forces climbers to manage fear and risk on steep, technical rock protected in a conventional trad manner.
