The Heist is a highball boulder problem in Eldorado Canyon, Colorado, graded V12 (8a+). At roughly 30 feet, it climbs more like a short route than a typical boulder problem, with a deep, slanting chute formed between the main boulder and an adjacent slab where a fall low on the problem can mean a long, awkward drop even with pads stacked underneath.
History
Kevin Jorgeson made the first ascent in 2009. It has since become a benchmark highball at the V12 level in Eldorado Canyon, drawing strong boulderers looking to test both technical climbing and commitment on runout, exposed terrain. Nina Williams repeated it in March 2024 over three separate sessions, describing several sketchy falls along the way before she linked the problem.
On film
The North Face presents: ADRENALINE - ft. Daniel Woods & Nina Williams (2024) follows Woods and Williams through a Colorado winter bouldering season. The Heist is one of several objectives shown in the edit alongside Woods's first ascent of Adrenaline (V16/8c+) and the problem Freakshow (V12), used to illustrate the spread of the pair's goals that season, from a mid-grade highball like The Heist up to Woods pushing a new V16.
