Best Yosemite Climbing Films

14 films · updated 2026-09-10

Yosemite Valley has been filmed more than any other climbing area on earth, and most of those films are about El Capitan. Those have their own list. This one is the whole Valley: The Phoenix above Cascade Falls, The Rostrum, Book of Hate, Leaning Tower, Sentinel Rock, and the Camp 4 culture that Stone Locals is about, along with the handful of El Cap films that are as much about the place as the wall.

The order goes from the short ascent films to the portraits and features. If you only watch one, make it Stone Locals: seventy two minutes on who is keeping the soul of climbing alive, with the Valley as its anchor.
