Black Bean is a sixty-five meter route at Céüse, graded 8b, and it is normally clipped. Arnaud Petit climbs it here on his own gear instead, placing protection as he goes on a wall built for bolts. Bertrand Delapierre shoots it clean and close, with the blue and gold limestone of Céüse doing most of the scenery work.

There is no build-up, no interviews, no arc beyond the climbing itself. Eleven minutes of a very experienced climber solving a hard sport pitch under trad rules, which is a specific kind of pleasure: you watch him find placements where most people only see clips. Good for anyone who cares about how style changes a route that already has a number attached to it.
