Trad route
Black Bean8b
Black Bean is a long, sustained limestone pitch on the cliffs of Céüse that is normally climbed as a bolted sport route. The film documents an ascent done entirely on placed protection: the climber treats a bolt line as a trad challenge, inserting gear as he moves. That approach reframes the route’s sequences, forcing different choices about resting, clipping and body position where most parties would simply clip bolts. The climb is notable here as an experiment in how style changes the experience of an established hard pitch.
