Book of Hate is a long, physically sustained corner climb in Yosemite Valley notable for its demanding stemming and increasing steepness as the pitch rises. Although bolted for much of its length, the upper overhanging crux depends on small pieces of trad protection, so the route sits between sport and trad practice. Climbers approach it as a test of opposition, body tension and precise footwork rather than pure pulling strength. Its mix of protection styles and the crack-corner sequence make it a distinctive test piece in the Valley.
