Deep water solo
Es Pontàs9a+ (DWS)
A long, overhanging line on a free-standing natural arch off Mallorca, Es Pontàs is best known for a powerful, committing dyno that finishes the route. Climbed unroped over deep water, the line requires repeating long, physical sequences above the sea with no protection other than the water below; every fall means a big plunge and a swim back. Chris Sharma’s 2006 first ascent and the multiple sessions it took made the climb an iconic benchmark for deep-water soloing with very few repeats in the years that followed.
